Opponents, beware! The gold-seeking duo of Fulvio Fantoni and Claudio Nunes is back for the SportAccord World Mind Games 2014 and already on the prowl for another golden sweep.
Headlining the bridge competition at the World Mind Games, Fantoni is the star player that everyone will be keeping an eye out for. The world number 1 won two gold medals at the 2013 edition of the bridge tournament at the World Mind Games and along with Nunes forms the most formidable team in bridge.
Speaking at the World Mind Games 2013, Fantoni had said, “I love competition, challenges. I believe this is in my nature. Participating in a competition is not my aim, it is my means. I don’t expect everyone to share this characteristic, but surely it is shared among all high level players.” And joining him for the competition would be some of the cream of the men’s bridge world.
Also returning for the women’s bridge competition would be last year’s gold medallist from China, Yu Zhang. She joins a list of 24 female participants from 6 countries across 3 continents to compete for gold again.
It was once said that “as with music, bridge is a universal language”. With multiple nationalities coming together on a common platform to compete, the World Mind Games 2014 embodies the spirit of the saying unlike few others.
